A blend of specific sites in Bouzeron and Mercurey (‘En Charron’ and ‘Le Vigne Saint Pierre’), this year’s Bourgogne Pinot Noir is beautiful. 25% handpicked and 75% machine harvested, with about 12% whole bunch fermentation and a touch of new oak, this is commercial in a very good way. Really crowd pleasing fruit balance, hawthorn, and just enough from the oak to add a layer of spice and smokeyness to the finished wine, impressive.
