Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2017

Notify me when this product is available:

Small 4Ha estate in Gevrey-Chambertain overseen single-handedly by Denis Bachelet who became winemaker in 1981 following the passing of his grandfather. He has achieved iconic status in Burgundy, with the small output of wines becoming highly sought after.

He understands that good winemaking begins in the vineyard itself, with careful vine management and an uncertified organic/low intervention approach throughout. Lutte raisonnée, in essence.

The Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes wine is sourced from multiples parcels over a 1.23 ha area including Champerrier, Dérée, La Justice, Sylvie, la Burie, Les Jeunes Rois, and La Platiére. These vines were planted between 1932 and 1937.

Fruit is 100% de-stemmed; fermentation made with indigenous yeasts. 16 months in barrel, with a 20% ratio of new oak.

In the glass, an evocative nose of raspberry, cassis, cherry and grilled meat. Textural, medium + palette with great purity of sappy fruit, chocolate, fresh earth and well integrated oak.
